Report: Galesburg spent $8,746 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at Galesburg Community Unit School District 205 is up 4 percent from five years ago, according to a Galesburg Reporter analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Knox County school district spent $8,419 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $8,746 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment rise over the same period, from 4394 to 4457.

Galesburg's spending in 2016-17 was 33 percent lower than the state average of $12,973.
