Sen. Win Stoller (R-Germantown Hills) recently hosted a Youth Advisory Council for District 37 high school students.
The event had 21 district schools represented by over 50 students, according to a Nov. 11 Facebook post from Stoller about the event.
“This week, I had the opportunity to host my first in-person Youth Advisory Council for high school students from the 37th Senate District,” the post said. “We had over 50 students from 21 local schools able to attend this year’s event. I was amazed by how knowledgeable and engaged the students were throughout the day. I can’t wait for our spring meeting at our State Capitol!”
In other actions, a state and local tax (SALT) bill that he sponsored was signed into law by Gov. Pritzker. The bill would allow small businesses to opt-in to a federal tax cut.
“My SALT bill — Senate Bill 2531 — represents an idea from the IRS (who) put out new guidance last fall that allows small businesses, pass-through entities, to have a workaround to a $10,000 cap — the SALT cap,” Stoller said, per the Illinois Valley Times.
Also recently, Stoller took to Facebook to honor veterans.
“Today, we celebrate and give thanks for the brave men and women of our armed forces who answered the call to serve and defend our nation,” Stoller posted on Facebook. “Our country’s veterans have fought and sacrificed to protect our freedoms. These Americans are the truest definition of heroes.”
He has also taken a swipe at Pritzker for signing redistricted legislative maps into law. Stoller accused Pritzker of ignoring the will of the people, according to the Illinois Valley Times.
“By signing the maps today, the Governor effectively ignored the will of the people,” Stoller posted on Facebook. “He once again signed a map that allows the majority party to pick their voters, instead of allowing the people of Illinois to pick their legislators.”
Stoller was sworn into the Senate on Jan. 5, 2020.
