In the week ending Mar. 21, two gas stations in Knox County sold regular gas at the lowest reported price of $3.57 per gallon, according to customer reports submitted to GasBuddy.
The average reported price of regular gas across the county was $3.91 per gallon.
Of the 27 reported gas stations located within Knox County, 19 offered regular gas.
Across Illinois, the average reported price for a gallon of regular gas rose to $4.13, compared to the week before.
U.S. gas prices continue to decline after reaching their lowest level since 2021, according to GasBuddy. The group projects the national average could dip below $2.80 per gallon during the holiday period, driven by increased oil production and lower seasonal demand.
The U.S. Energy Information Administration expects global oil stockpiles to keep growing into 2026, a trend that could weigh on crude prices in the near term.
