Call to Order/Roll Call
The Community Unit School District #205 Board of Education met for a special meeting on Wednesday, September 3, 2025 at 5:00 PM at 940 W. Fremont St., Galesburg, IL. The roll was read and the following Members responded: Harter, Rodriguez, Scherpe, Statham (4) Absent: Lyon, Phelps, Taylor (3) Roll Call #1
Closed Session
It was moved by Member Statham and seconded by Member Scherpe to move to closed session for the purpose of s student disciplinary hearing. On roll call the following Members voted AYE: Rodriguez, Scherpe, Statham, Harter (4) Motion carried. Roll Call #2
It was moved by Member Statham and seconded by Member Scherpe to return to open session. On roll call the following Members voted AYE: Rodriguez, Scherpe, Statham, Harter (4) Motion carried. Roll Call #3
Action
It was moved by Member Scherpe and seconded by Member Rodriguez to uphold the suspension of student #090320251 and to expel the student for the remainder of the 2025-2026 school year.
On roll call the following Members voted AYE: Harter, Rodriguez, Scherpe, Statham (4) Motion carried. Roll Call #4
Closed Session
It was moved by Member Statham and seconded by Member Scherpe that the meeting move to closed session for the purpose of a student disciplinary hearing—5:46 PM. On voice vote the following Members voted AYE: Scherpe, Statham, Rodriguez, Harter (4) Motion carried. Roll Call #5
It was moved by Member Statham and seconded by Member Scherpe to return to open session.
On roll call the following Members voted AYE: Rodriguez, Scherpe, Statham, Harter (4) Motion carried. Roll Call #6
Action
It was moved by Member Scherpe and seconded by Member Rodriguez to uphold the suspension of student #090320252 and expel the student for the remainder of the 2025-2026 school year but to amend the motion to include that the student may attend the Regional Office of Education safe school. On roll call the following Members voted AYE: Harter, Rodriguez, Scherpe, Statham (4)

It was moved by Member Statham and seconded by Member Scherpe that the meeting move to closed session for the purpose of a student disciplinary hearing—6:23 PM. On voice vote the following Members voted AYE: Scherpe, Statham, Rodriguez, Harter (4) Motion carried. Roll Call #8
It was moved by Member Statham and seconded by Member Scherpe to return to open session.
On roll call the following Members voted AYE: Rodriguez, Scherpe, Statham, Harter (4) Motion carried. Roll Call #9
Action
It was moved by Member Scherpe and seconded by Member Rodriguez that student #090320253suspension be upheld but amended to end on September 3, 2025 and the student return to school on September 4, 2025. On roll call the following Members voted AYE: Harter, Rodriguez, Scherpe, Statham (4) Motion carried. Roll Call #10
