A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Henderson County Sheriff Department on January 7, 2025, by us at Galesburg Reporter. The request seeks access to all arrest records from the year 2024.

Specifically, we are seeking a comprehensive list of all arrests made from January 1, 2024, through December 31, 2024. The requested information includes details such as the arrestee’s name, date of arrest, gender, race, date of birth and the crime committed.

As a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we believe in holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Access to these public records is crucial for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities.

We have requested that this information be provided in an electronic format for ease of use and analysis. As members of the media involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we have also requested a fee waiver given our role in disseminating information.

We await a response from the Henderson County Sheriff Department regarding this FOIA request.
