FOIA Request to Henderson County Clerk Regarding 2025 Consolidated Elections Candidates on January 14, 2025.
In our continuous effort to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Galesburg Reporter have sent a request under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140, to the Henderson County Clerk.
The request specifically asks for a list of candidates running for the upcoming 2025 Consolidated Elections. We have asked for specific details such as the candidate’s name, the date they filed their candidacy, and the office they are running for.
As a media organization, access to public records is crucial in fulfilling our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals.
